Hannah Valerie Benfield

I am a passionate gardener and landscape designer currently completing Longwood Gardens’ Landscape Design Certificate, where I focus on blending art and ecology. My designs celebrate color, texture, and movement, and I’m passionate about using native plants to support local ecosystems.

Growing up in New Zealand after being born in the UK, I’ve always been inspired by the ocean and natural landscapes, which continue to shape my work and connection to nature.

Before this path, I studied fine art and sculpture and worked in project management within the clinical research industry. This experience taught me to balance creativity with structure, bringing care and attention to each project from start to finish.

I live in Philadelphia with my husband and daughter, continually learning from the garden and wild spaces around me, which guide my approach to design.
